REBECCA IRBY

Rebecca Irby is an educator and global peacebuilder whose work centers transformational systems change, trauma informed practice, community care, and cross-cultural communication. She is the Founding Partner and Board President of PEAC Institute, a 501(c)(3) NGO in UN ECOSOC Special Consultative Status since 2020, and a member of ICAN, the coalition awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize.

PEAC Institute holds a seat on the UN CoNGO Board, and Rebecca serves as its representative. She also leads the Steering Committee for the Substantive Committee on Dignity, focused on ending all forms of discrimination. Rebecca serves on the Financing for Development Committee and sits on the Working Group for Climate Finance. After 17 years in education, she was a founding member of the Developing Safe and Civil Schools team and helped advance school climate and SEL implementation work that supported the emergence of SEL coordinator roles. She has spoken at and collaborated with institutions and governments including the United Nations, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the City of Hiroshima, Nagoya University, Gifu University, New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Harvard Law School, the Yale Policy Conference, the NJ Department of Education, Rutgers University, the National Liberty Museum, and the PyeongChang Global Peace Forum, to name a few.
